Covid-19

 Tässä on jo toinen koronapandemiateemainen art journal aukeama, jonka teen. Tätä asiaa tulee koko ajan joka mediasta, väkisinkin se puski läpi ajattelusta arttiin. Jokainen kun omalta osaltaan tekee parhaansa ja noudattaa terveysviranomaisten ohjeita, niin ehkä tämä poikeustila vielä joskus loppuu...

This is my second art journal spread inspired by news and all the information that media continuously tells us. This tiny virus has messed up whole world...  If everyone would try their best, protect their selves and others, maybe some day this will end and we get back to normal life...

Participating Try it on Tuesday challenge "Words or numbers" - I'm sorry the words are in Finnish, mainly the theme is wash your hands, keep social distance, stay home. Stop Covid-19. 

Linnunpelätti / Scarecrow

Tässä yksittäinen Skinny kortti, jonka tein Pia Paperista ostetulla Carabelle Studion linnunpelättileimalla. Salamoinnin maalasin taustalle itse vesiväreillä.

Here's one Skinny card that I made with Carabelle studio scarecrow stamp, that I bought from Pia Paper. Background lightning I painted myself with watercolors.

Stronger than yesterday

Vaihteeksi vähän synkempää goottiaukeamaa... Tämän aukeaman pohjalla on suoraan kirjaan Gel pressillä painetut kuviot, pienempi Dylusions Creative journal mahtuu levylle juuri ja juuri. Valkoista maalia sapluunan läpi, ja yksi lempileimoistani, Carabelle Studion enkeli. Hän sai vain tällä kertaa vähän grungemmat  lepakkosiivet. Vähän metallinhohtomaalia ja sinistä foilia tumman aukeaman mausteeksi.

Little bit darker and gothic tones... Base layer is printed with Gel press plate straight to my Dylusions Creative Journal spread. Some white paint trough stencil and one of my favourite stamps. This time Carabelle Studio's angel got grunge bat wings. And finishing touch - metallic paints and foil to have sparkling magic dust in the darkness.

Mustavalkoista

Tämä mustavalkoinen atc setti on ollut kehitteillä pitkään. Tuhat kertaa olen miettinyt jonkun värin lisäämistä näihin, mutta oikeaa sävyä ei vaan löytynyt. Olkoon siis harmaan sävyissä 😁

This black&white atc set has been developing for a while... Thousand times been thinking of adding some color, but did not find the right tone. Now I give up, fifty shades of grey is enough 😁

Here is a newest spread on my altered book. Many, many layers of acrylic paints and including a gel press image transfer/resist technique picture. Messy, but it was very fun to do!

Tässä on tunnatun arttikirjani uusin sivu. Monta kerrosta akryylimaaleja ja gel pressillä tehty kuvansiirto. Sotkuinen lopputulos, mutta tekeminen oli kivaa!

Tein nämä ATC-kortit kierrätysmateriaaleista: pohjana on muropakkauksen pahvi, ja kuviot on korvakoruja valmistavan tuttavani leikkuujätettä/hylkyyn menneitä korun osia ( https://www.facebook.com/ennikkikorut/ ) Päälle Prima Marketingin mustaa gessoa,  Dylusionin helmiäissuihkeita ja kulta/hopeavahaa.

I did these cards from recycled materials. Base layer is from cereal package. The figures are cutting waste and failed parts  i got from my friend who makes earrings from plywood. I covered all with Prima Marketing Black heavy gesso and added Dylusion shimmer sprays and gold/silver wax.

Make Art for Art´s sake

Eräs tuttavani tiedusteli syytä mixed media- ja art journal innostukseeni. Vaikea kysymys! Tietenkin rentoutuminen askartelun äärellä on tärkeää, ja kroonisesti sairaana taiteilu on minulle myös terapiaa ja mindfulnessia. Mutta periaatteessa, tarvitseeko olla joku syy tehdä arttisivu, kanvas tai joku muu projekti... vai voiko olla niin, että prosessista nauttiminen on tärkeintä, ei se lopputulos? Tässäpä näitä mietteitä ja miettiessä syntynyt arttisivu. Gessoa, gel mediumia, modeling pastea, stone ja sand effect pastea, vesivärejä, gel press printtiä, akvarelliliituja... Rakastan mixed mediaa juuri siksi, että kaikki on sallittua 💓

My friend asked me, why am i so exited about my art journal and mixed media hobby. Tough question! Of course, relaxing is important part of my crafting. As i am chronically ill and have rheumatic pains, art journal and mixed media is also a mindfulness therapy for me. But do you really need a reason to make art journal spread, canvas or other mixed media project... or could the reason be just to enjoy the process? With these thoughts i made this spread. Gesso, gel medium, modeling paste, stone and sand paste, watercolors, gel press prints, watercolor crayons... I love mixed media just because you can mix everything, no limitations 💓

Darker days

Joskus elämässä on vähän synkempiäkin sävyjä, ja silloin helpottaa kun saa päästellä höyryjä arttiin. Tässä muutamana iltana olen puuhastellut tämän goottihenkisen aukeaman parissa. Gessoa, metallivahaa, tarroja, leimailua, foilia... Yritän tässä todistella, että ei saa luovuttaa uskoaan uuteen kevääseen ja parempaan päivään 💙

Sometimes there are some darker tones in life, and i have found it relieving to let the steam come out as an art journal page. Past two nights i have worked with this spread with gesso, stickers, metal wax, stamping, foils... I´m trying to prove myself, that spring and better days are still yet to come 💙

Gel press terapiaa

En ole hetkeen maalaillut gel pressillä, koska vanhojakin printtejä on jo vino pino... mutta eilen ajattelin ihan rentoutumisen ja terapian nimissä telailla hiukan printtejä. Aiemmin olen printtaillut vain vaaleille/vakoisille tai craftin värisille alustoille, nyt ajattelin kokeilla tummansävyisiä ja mustia taustoja. Jopa kuvansiirto onnistui, kun oli tarpeeksi vaalea maali -toki kuva on silloin ikäänkuin negatiivi. Mukavaa oli taasen ja innostuinpa vielä iltapuhteena tekemään tämän kuuden kortin atc sarjan abstrakteja asennekortteja. Anti-sosiaalisissa tunnelmissa.

I have a big pile of gel press prints, but i guess there is always room for some more. Yesterday i had therapeutic and relaxing gel press session and i also wanted to try printing on dark surfaces. Suprisingly also the image transfer technique works,  but the image is negative though. And after printing i finished these six abstract, anti-social atc cards...

Huono päivä

Aina ei ole hyvä päivä. Huonoja päiviä on onneksi vähemmän kuin hyviä... mutta joskus huono päivä on niin huono, että se pitää purkaa paperille. Helpotti hiukkasen!

Sometimes i have bad day. Fortunately, there are much more good days than the bad ones. But sometimes the bad day is SO bad, that you just have to put it on the paper. It helped a little bit!
And, maybe my dark day inspiration fits to Dream In Darkness challenge...

Fantasy and fairytales

In a world of fantasy... everything is possible, if you believe so. There are lots of  legendary fairy tales that everyone knows, but sometimes is fun to think about it outside the normatives. The poor witch could be eaten alive by a little cute, but evil girl in a red hoodie. The yellow brick road could lead you to the sewers, if you are not careful enough...

Yeah, i have read my Pratchett´'s. I love Terry Pratchett´'s Discworld fantasy stories, where all the laws of fairy tales will be turned upside down, inside out and mixed with a disturbed humor to create a whole new stories. Thank you, Terry 💓

Fantasian maailmassa kaikki on mahdollista, jos niin haluaa uskoa. On paljon legendaarisia satuja, jotka me kaikki tunnemme, mutta joskus on hauskaa astua ulos normatiivilaatikosta ja katsoa asioita ulkoa päin. Noita parka voi joutua elävältä syödyksi pienen, suloisen, mutta ilkeän punanuttuisen tytön toimesta. Keltainen tiilitie saattaakin johtaa suoraan viemäreihin, jos et ole varovainen...

Juu, minä olen Pratchettini lukenut. Rakastan Terry Pratchettin Kiekkomaailma-kirjoja. Niissä satujen ja fantasian lait käännetään ylösalaisin ja nurinpäin, sekoitetaan häiriintyneen huumorin kanssa ja annetaan rauhassa poreilla, kunnes on kokonaan uusia tarinoita kerrottavana. Kiitos, Terry 💓
